Jul 01, 2020 Soil pH and Buffer Index the pH of the Pond Creek soil to 6.8, about 1.2 tons would bring the pH out of the danger zone and allow near normal production for three to five years (see OSU Fact Sheet PSS-2240, “Managing Acid Soils for Wheat Production”). With this approach soil pH should be closely monitored and more lime should be planned in the next year or two. PIPES Buffered Saline (5X, pH 6.8), BB-590 | Boston

General. High purity and accuracy buffer tablets for the preparation of microscopical stain solutions. These tablets provide a rapid and convenient method of preparing buffer solutions, one tablet dissolved in distilled water produces a solution of the stated pH at 20 O C. The following formulas produce buffers with pH values close to that indicated. The weights give 0.1 M concentrations of each species, when diluted to 1.0 L, so that the [acid]:[conjugate base] ratio is unity. In most cases the pH will have to be adjusted using a pH meter and the dropwise addition of either 6 M HCl or 6M NaOH to one liter of Grower A has source water with a pH of 9.0 and alkalinity of 45 mg/L CaCO3. Grower B has source water with a pH of 8.0 and alkalinity of 120 mg/L CaCO3. Both growers need the pH of their irrigation water to be 5.0, and use sulfuric acid for this purpose.
